Archive for Aromatherapy Information

I’m interested in anything anyone has to say about treating arthritis naturally (specifically, ankylosing spondylitis), but I’d love to hear any stories.

I’m trying to find more info on -

anyone with knowledge of aromatherapy or herbs during pregnancy? i’ve heard that in women susceptible to miscarriage the essential oil jasmine should be avoided. i’m almost 25 weeks and wondering if drinking one cup of jasmine white tea will negatively effect the baby or cause early labor?

what would happen if?

i added ylang ylang essential oil to my conditioner? its suave conditioner, lol.
its good for split ends but i don’t like handling it directly with no carrier oil since i’m pregnant and the smell is quite strong for my pregnant nose to handle comfortably.
the only part, i’ve found, that is hard for me to handle while pregnant is putting it on my finger tips to massage it into the ends of my hair…but i did it anyway, really fast this time, and it worked well. i’m not real wild about using a carrier oil in my hair but maybe i will try it next time–warm! :)
i haven’t reacted badly to ylang ylang–its just strong smelling and i don’t appreciate that aspect of it. i don’t get any “bad feelings” or headaches…just not that into the strength of the smell…and while ylang ylang is considered mild, the smell is definitely not–that is the main contraindication with that essential oil. i’m not retarded, although i can see where its easy to assume that being on yahoo answers, most askers are i guess. i may not be a pro like you, but i also don’t go around assuming that i know everything and talk down to people who very well may know what they are talking about.
i wish that the ylang ylang had the calming effect on me like maybe it should–so i wouldn’t get so annoyed by your self-righteous, uncited response. thanks though. plenty of other questions out there need your expertise–just don’t go offending anyone know-it-all. <3

why will nothing work ?

Posted by: NymphaeaAromatherapy | Comments (3)

i have very very bad insomnia . it takes me , on average , about 2 or 3 hours to fall asleep . when i do fall asleep , i wake up often and don’t get quality sleep . i get probably between 2- 5 hours of sleep every night . i was prescribed sleeping pills by my doctor; they slightly improved my ability to fall asleep, but then stopped working completely. i have tried warm milk, no caffeine after noon , no working out before 5 pm , no eating after dinner, reading before bed , hot bath , essential oils, meditation, sleeping with music , sleeping without music , sleeping with lights , sleeping in pitch black .. i have tried everything and am still having this problem. even OTC sleeping pills have not work, and neither have the new ones i have been prescribed . what could be the problem and how can i fix this ? i have missed days and days of work because of sicknesses from lack of sleep ..

I enjoy going to the sauna at the gym because I feel so relaxed after the process. However, I wonder if I can achieve the same results at home in the shower. Has anyone tried this? How can I incorporate aromatherapy?

Last night I used Bath & Body Aromatherapy sleep pillow mist. When I woke up my face was a little rashy. Then as the day continued about two hours later it was completely covered in rash. It is reddish purple and it hurts and is sore to the touch. It contains cinnamon essential oil and clove essential oil. Also milk and honey or at least that’s all it list :/. So what i need is a cure for my rash that i can obtain from my household items. i tried Benadryl didn’t help to much. Like i heard a oatmeal bath…but it is just my face,

Sun screen:
3 tbsp. unrefined sesame oil
1 tbsp. unrefined avocado oil
1 tbsp. unrefined jojoba oil
1 tbsp. walnut or almond oil
1 tbsp. shea butter
2 tbsp. cocoa butter
1 tsp. beeswax
1 tsp. soya-lecithin
2 tbsp. aloe-vera gel
2 tbsp. rose or lavender water
1/2 tsp. borax powder
20 drops carrot-seed essential oil
3-5 drops coconut fragrance oil (optional)

Melt the first 4 oils, butters and beeswax in a double boiler over medium heat until just melted. Add the soya-lecithin, and stir to blend. Remove from heat.
In a small saucepan, gently warm the aloe-vera gel and rose or lavender water, and stir in borax powder until dissolved. Remove from heat.
When the oil and water mixtures are still warm to the touch and about the same temperature, set the small saucepan into a bowl of ice. Drizzle in the oil mixture while mixing rapidly with a small whisk; a cream will quickly form.
Add carrot-seed essential oil and coconut fragrance oil if desired; blend thoroughly.

I’ve been looking up stuff online to see what kinds of essential oils are good for skin care. I have a little bit of scarring from old acne, and I’m also trying to prevent future acne (I still have a little bit). So far, I’ve found that tea tree oil, vitamin e, jojoba, and lavender oil are all good. Would the following routine be effective as a good skin care?

Face wash/scrub with lavender oil mixed with tea tree oil (and some kind of exfoliant)
Then rubbing vitamin e oil
Then finishing with jojoba oil.

I don’t really know that much about essential oils and natural products, so any suggestions would be helpful! What works for you?

One more thing, I’m vegan, so please don’t give me any suggestions that use milk, yogurt, eggs, or honey because I won’t use them. Thank you!
