What do I need to do to start my own at home online business?
ByI’m interested in opening my own online store and I know how, but what else do I need to do? I’m going to be selling the things my friend and I make such as jewelry, clothing, and aromatherapy products etc. But I’m wondering, do I need to register a company name or anything like that for it to be legal or official or anything? Please I need help I want to get this started as soon as possible.

You have your choice whether or not you want to do business under a company or a sole proprietorship. There are many choices for you if you decide to incorporate: s-corp, c-corp, or llc. If you do not incorporate your business you will need to get a Doing Business As name (DBA) or a fictitious name.
Whatever path you choose on incorporation, you still need to get licensed in your state, county, and city. Depending on where you are going to do business, you will need to apply for several licenses, such as sales tax, using home as office, etc.

Since you havent decided on what to sell, why dont you try ebay first? I believe you have many different types of products ranging from clothing to aromatheraphy stuff. It’s best that you place them on ebay to test the market. If they sell well, then you can consider setting up an online shop. In this way you dont have to worry abt any business registration.

The best way to start online business is ebay. You need experience, stock management and build reputation. Once you get good at it then start your own website. No you dont need business registration if you just starting out

Greetings,
I started an online bath and body business in 2000. It takes time, blood, sweat and tears to get a business going. Things have changed a lot since then, however I, as a few posted already, started my business on eBay. Which led to a website and so on.
I also recommend you look at Etsy and Artfire which are sites similar to ebay with lower fees and are soley for the ‘crafter’.
Whichever site you choose, do not rely on the site to get your business going. You’ll need to utilize search engine optimization, and market heavily because if no one knows you exist, they will never find you! You can do so at no cost if you do your research
You do need to contact your state/county and let them know you’ll be running an internet based business (be sure to specify c ustomers won’t be coming to your home or else they’ll make you jump through costly hoops) You will need to get a retail/resale license as well (also known as a wholesale license) as this will allow you to purchase your goods at wholesale cost. However it also is your sales tax license too, where you will collect sales tax for sales made within your state and remit it to the state.
Check your rules for out of state sales as well.
It is very rewarding, allow it time to grow, and have fun!

I think it would be a really great idea if you decided to incorporate Spicy Party products on your site. Being that is seems at though you are catering to women primarily you should sell the spicy segment. Its relationship enhancement products for women. If you know anything about this field you will know that its one of the highest revenue making businesses in the world. Spicy Parties is professional and classy and Many women have come to fall in love with the brand. I truly believe that if you offer a variety on your site you will get more business. check them out, its worth a look.
All you have to do is purchase a kit that will give you all the materials you will need to be successful with Spicy Parties, then you get a great commission rate on everything you sell! You wouldnt have to worry about shipping because Spicy Parties does that for you. Its really a great idea.
